A small stream wanders through this yard ending in a rocky waterfall that spills into a generous custom-tile spa.
The owners of this Santa Barbara home thoroughly embrace Feng Shui concepts. The road leading to their property approaches the home from behind and this create bad chi. Flowing water can correct this negative energy, so we created a long narrow brook running through the yard along a back patio.
A footbridge crosses the stream to a cozy fire-pit with a semi-circle stone seat wall. This combination protects the home with fire and water. The flagstone hardscape and field stone boulders add a rustic earthy, feel. A custom copper gate leads from backyard to the side yard where the spa is located. The spa is 14’ long by 8’ at its widest point. It includes 12 hydrotherapy jets along with swim jets for exercising against the current. The walls are adorned with a custom fish tile mosaic created by Michelle Griffoul studios. Lush plantings enclose the yard creating an intimate sanctuary.
At the end of the project A Feng Shui master walked the landscape and gave full approval to the design.
