This Calabasas remodeled yard became a successful small space, contemporary garden. When space is limited, choosing a good designer is even more important. Every inch of yard needs to be used to maximum potential. Ergonomics come into place with consideration for the amount of space each person uses, minimums for path of travel, bench seating space, how many stools will fit at the bart, etc. Cohen feels that; landscaping is important to soften these smaller gardens, “You have got to be able to work in some greenery or these small yard designs become mostly hardscape, hot and intolerable. Plants help cool an area, reduce reflective light, and heat.
Now that we have been enjoying our new backyard for a couple of months, Rose and I wanted to let you know how pleased we are with the outcome of the adventure to create an outdoor room. Having just moved to California and not having a clear concept of what we wanted, your discussions with us translated into a design that was beyond what we could have imagined.
Everyone that visits our home is immediately taken by the sense of style and functional design that are the separate “rooms” within a fairly small outdoor space. Several friends have independently remarked “I feel like I am at the W Hotel” when they experience this wonderful space.
Your crew deserves a big thank you for not only their excellent work but also for their consideration of us and our neighbors during the 3 month project. The work site was always left neat and orderly at the end of each day and our neighbors remarked how courteous the crew was to them.
One is naturally cautious when engaging an unfamiliar design/build firm especially when we were new to the area. You and your team certainly blew those concerns away with the process and outcome of this project. We have literally “moved outside” on evenings and weekends and can be on vacation in only a few steps out the door!
Thanks again for a really great experience working with you. We wouldn’t hesitate to share our positive experience with others.
